Support Services
The
pastoral care staff responds to the spiritual dimension of healing and
wellness in the clinical setting. The pastoral caregivers provide
supportive spiritual and religious care and counseling in the context of
the religious faith of the resident and family. When indicated, the
pastoral caregivers will consult with specific religious and spiritual
leaders available in the community. The pastoral caregivers provide care
and counseling to families and residents as well as consultation for
treatment team members in the following areas.
-Spiritual assessment and development of a formal plan of care
-Spiritual/religious perspectives of specific faith groups on treatment choices.
-Use of spiritual strength for healing: guided prayer/imagery, relaxation and medication for wellness.
-Issues of death and dying support, counseling, rituals, prayer.
-Bio-ethical dilemmas.
-Ongoing emotional and spiritual care when a cure of positive prognosis cannot be offered
-Multi-faith religious services for residents and families.
